Dr. Sophie van der Zee

Dr. Sophie van der Zee is a lecturer at the Social & Organizational Psychology department at VU University Amsterdam. In addition, she holds a visiting researcher position at the University of Cambridge’s Computer Laboratory and at the Department of Medical and Sport Sciences at the University of Cumbria. She completed at BSc in Social Psychology at Utrecht University, followed by a MSc (cum laude) in Psychology and Law at Maastricht University. She completed her PhD on nonverbal mimicry as an indicator of deceit at Lancaster University (UK). After her PhD, she worked two years at the Computer Laboratory of the University of Cambridge as a postdoctoral researcher and as a College Research Associate at King’s College Cambridge. During this time, she set up and organized the first interdisciplinary conference on deceptive behavior, Decepticon 2015. The next edition will be held in August 2017 at Stanford University in the US. In the period 2015-2016 she conducted more practical (cyber) security research at TNO.
