Johan van Wilsem is head of the Department of Crime, Law Enforcement and Sanctions at Research and Documentation Centre (WODC), Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice. 

Formerly, Johan van Wilsem was an Associate Professor of Criminology at Leiden University. He studies patterns of cybercrime victimization (e.g. online consumer fraud, identity fraud), their consequences for adaptive behaviors, and future risks. Also, studying prospective crime victimization data, he also studies the dynamics and shifts between offline and online victimization experiences.
